Canberra, the capital city of Australia is noted for its culture, modern transportation facilities, numerous tourist attractions, lifestyle and improvised infrastructures. Apart from the air and road transportation services, the rail facilities provided by the Australian Railway Historical Society in Canberra are worth mentioning. The Australian Railway Historical Society in Canberra (ACT Division) was constructed in the year 1933 in Sydney. A special territory division was opened in the country’s capital city, Canberra.

The main objection behind the foundation of this railway system was to make railways popular among the domestic and international travelers. The varied facets of the railway service are brought in notice of the people by this society. For promoting all these and for the fulfillment of the same, the Australian Railway Historical Society in Canberra publishes a special magazine, which is available nationwide, named the Australian Railway History.

Apart from operating the Canberra Railway Museum, the Australian Railway Historical Society in Canberra also operates contemporary and vintage passenger trains. The vintage trains are mainly the passenger trains belonging to those of the early 20th century. These trains are pulled by the age-old steam locomotives and operate between Canberra and cities like Bungendore and Royalla.

Special tours, weekend or overnight trips, are arranged by the Australian Railway Historical Society in Canberra to soar the popularity of the tourism sector. The basic amenities are made available to the travelers inside the coaches itself. Both modern as well as vintage trains are utilized for the Canberra Railway Museum. On the way the principle sites of interest are exhibited by the experienced tour guides.
