The lecturer named Professor Mike Gore coined a term ‘ Quest’ signifying search and discover ‘Con’ signifying studying and examining. So clubbing both term, it becomes Questacon. In the beginning, the hub of Questacon was at the Ainsley Primary School at Canberra. In the beginning it was managed some volunteers. In the year 1984, the government of Australia, thought of setting up a National Science Center. From the up gradation of Questacon, National Science and Technology Center cropped in the year 1986.
Questacon became deeply involved to develop National Science and Technology Center in Canberra, Australia. The development of modern science was thrown light upon the students of various branches of science. Questacn’s role began to spread much far away to those staying in Canberra. Questacon also extended their network through National Science and Technology even to the rural belt. Today Questacn’s outreach program includes Shell Questacon Science, Smart Moves, Tenix Maths Squad and Science Squad.
