Canberra Population

Canberra is one of the beautiful cities in Australia that comes with diverse variety of flora and fauna. Canberra is in fact one of the most densely populated cities in Australia. The total Canberra population recorded in the year 2006 was 325,800, whereas the population density is about 401 persons per sq km. One thing that is quite unique about the population in Canberra is that only 1.2 % of the people are of indigenous origin and about 21.6 % are born in other nations.

Canberra population is mainly comprised of people born in UK and New Zealand. Although you will get to see majority of English speaking people coming from both these countries, but immigrants from various other nations can also be spotted in great numbers. People mainly from Germany, Italy and various south Asian nations have come here in large numbers in the recent years.





The average age of the Canberra population is only about 32 where as you will get to see only 8.3 % of the population above the age of 65. Canberra even witnesses the highest mobility rate in the whole country. About half of the population in Canberra follow Christian religion.
